Colonel Robert Higgins donated the park property to the Village of Higginsport on February 28, 1816. The village park has seen many changes over the years and was leased from the village for several years in the 1960's and 1970's for a state ran roadside rest.
Exciting park improvements will be taking place in 2024. The village has been awarded a grant from the Ohio Nature Works which will make it possible to replace the park shelter roofs and the purchase of benches, picnic tables and grills. The City of Montgomery has generously donated gently used playground equipment that will be installed replacing the aging equipment that has now been removed from the park to prepare for it's installation.
The village has been very fortunate that many residents and friends of the village have taken interest and volunteered selfless hours for various projects at the park and throughout the village.
